BioMiguel Lino holds a MSc degree in Biomedical Engineering (Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon) and a PhD in Biosciences, Specialization in Biotechnology from the University of Coimbra (2017). Currently, he is a researcher in the Advanced Therapies Group at CIBB, working in the area of nanobiotechnology and biomaterials for regenerative medicine purposes. During his PhD, he made significant contributions in the field of drug delivery. He was mostly involved in the development of light-triggerable nanoformulations for intracellular delivery of biomolecules with spatial and temporal control for modulation of cell activity. Since 2017, he is working on the development of extracellular vesicle-based formulations for the treatment of cardiovascular/brain disorders, particularly focused in ischemic diseases. In 2021, Miguel was a visiting researcher at Imperial College London in the laboratories of Professor Costanza Emanueli and Professor Cesare Terracciano.
